in this tutorial, I will tell you to stay anonymous with tor services.

here, I will not talk about Nipe which is a nice tool. but I will tell you to do it manually without any tool.

Steps

to ensure that  you have tor services in your Linux, type this command:

tor

if it responses, it means that you have tor already and with this command you have enabled it.

well, if you haven’t installed it yet, type this command:

apt-get install tor

after that, you will have tor services but remember that the installation can take a while.

now run it with this command if you haven’t:

service tor start

we will see the running port that is being used by tor with Nmap :

nmap 127.0.0.1

you may have seen the port 9050 because it was opened for me.

now we will add this port and our local IP as a system proxy with the GUI method.

do the same thing as we have shown you in the image. it is important to use socks5 proxy. it won’t

work without it.

That’s it. now you can surf anonymously.

you need to understand that we are not talking about the tor browser here. however, the tor browser also uses some ports (9051). I don’t know if you can use that port as a proxy as or not. you can try that and comment  us if it works.

Thanks for visiting.
